Diversion Committee is close to making it's first buyouts

(WDAY TV) -- The Diversion Authority is close to making it's first buyouts of properties.

The early acquisition sub-committee approved 3 home buyouts today, that now must be approved by the authority board. The homes are within an area where water would be stored south of the diversion.

Very specific criteria were used to choose these first buyouts.

Brian Berg, with the Early Acquisition Sub-Committee, says, "we had received 8 applications for hardship review and we had determined, the land management committee had determined some parameters and that was for the purpose of being financially strapped because of medical reasons."

The first 3 buyouts are all in Oxbow and more early buyouts will come when more funds are available.
