GARRISON, N.D. (AP) — Children impacted by last summer's Souris River flooding in the Minot area are getting a chance to have fun and heal at summer camp.

The Minot Daily News reports that this week is the first session of Camp Noah, at Camp of the Cross near Garrison. It is for elementary school-age children whose home, school or day care was affected by the flood. About 30 children are expected.

A second session of the camp is planned late this month at Bread of Life Lutheran Church in Minot. Organizers hope to have as many as 50 children.

Camp Noah began as a response to the 1997 flooding in the Red River Valley. It has since spread nationwide. There is a $25 fee for the camp but scholarships are available.
