Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Arizona Senator John McCain is throwing his political weight around, saying a North Dakota leader is one of his top picks for Vice President.

The Republican legislator says he has a short list of who he thinks would be a good VP, and Senator John Hoeven makes the cut. McCain says Hoeven is an outstanding senator from the heartland of America who proved himself as Governor.

The former presidential candidate was in Fargo yesterday touring the North Dakota Air National Guard Base, and learning about its flying missions.

McCain also says he wants to see Representative Rick Berg part of the Senate next year, citing his background of leadership.
