MEDORA, N.D. (AP) — Traffic came to a standstill on Interstate 94 about four miles west of Medora Friday after a semi-trailer hauling hay bales caught fire.

The Dickinson Press reports (http://bit.ly/LDKJOr) that Raul Medina-Reyes noticed flames coming from his load and pulled over to the shoulder to unhook the trailer from the truck.

The 53-year-old Medina-Reyes then drove himself to a Dickinson hospital and was treated for minor injuries.

The roadway was closed for about three hours before the North Dakota Highway Patrol reopened one lane.

Sgt. Chris Messer says authorities do not know the cause of the fire. It resulted in about $25,000 in damage to the semi and hay.
