Des Moines, IA (WDAY TV) - When Laura Roesler graduated Fargo South two years ago and headed west to Oregon it was for moments like tonight. The former Bruin standout was in the 800 meter final at the NCAA Outdoor Championship, facing the fastest women in the nation at this distance.

Roesler didn't even make the finals in this race last year, but she made a huge jump this year. She faded near the back early, but made a charge late, pushing her way all the way up to 4th place. It was a 2 person race won by BYU's Nachelle Mackie in a time of 2:01.06. Roesler takes 4th at 2:02.96, good enough for All-American status. She'll run again tomorrow in the 4 by 400 relay.
