Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - For the second time in a week police are investigating the report of a Fargo woman being assaulted while walking home. In each incident, the victims were able to escape.

Police say the victim was walking southbound on 7th street near 3rd avenue when the assailant came up and grabbed her wrist. The victim says the alleged assault lasted only moments, but now police are on the lookout. Police say the woman had just left the downtown area and was on her way home around 2 AM.

They are looking for a white male between the ages of 25 and 30. The victim says he had a larger build, 5’7” to-5’9” inches tall and about 200 pounds. He had buzzed blonde or light brown hair. Fargo police say incidents like this can usually be avoided.

Lt. Joel Vettel – Fargo Police: “Be as safe as possible. That is as simple as walking with a friend or taking a more well-lit route home or catching a ride or taxi service.”

Police say the buddy-system always safer. Attackers are much more wary if you're with a group of people.

Lt. Joel Vettel: “Take those simple precautions. It's not the big things that deal with personal safety, it's the little things that we do.”

If caught, the man could face anything from a disorderly conduct to an assault charge. Police do not believe this is related to this weekend's incident. A man was arrested in that case. Police say they are already following several leads in the new case.
