Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - When Ward Ralston plans a trip, he takes his time saving money for the vacation. The 44 year-old Fargo man has a dream of visiting and reuniting with his mother. He hasn't seen her in years. That's when his friends stepped in to help make it all happen.
Outside Cash Wise in Fargo today Ward Ralston supervised his own fundraiser - A Brat Fest. The goal today was to sell enough buns with brats, to send him on his way to see his mother in Texas.
Ward is here in Fargo, where Friendship Inc. tends to his daily needs. His mother, Pat, lives in Texas and the two have not seen each other in years.
Tricia Larson – Friendship, Inc. “I think it is important like it would be for anyone else, just as important for you to see yours and me mine.”
The goal is to raise enough money to get Ward down to the plains of Texas during one of our bitterly cold upcoming winters.
Tricia Larson: “Also Texas is a really good place for him to visit because he loves rodeos, cowboys and rough way of living. He loves that, so it is up his alley.”
Pizza Ranch is also helping out in the cost, donating proceeds from the pizza sales to Ward. Ward may not be able to communicate the same way most of us do, but there is no question from his heartfelt actions that he is grateful.
