Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Gary Jacobson will sleep well tonight, after a view of his hometown from the sky. Through a special program sponsored by the North Dakota Long Term Care Assocation residents at retirement homes can request a wish.

It is called Cherished Hopes, and for Gary it means getting back into a plane for one last airplane ride. This time it was over his home turf of Hillsboro and rural Trail County. Gary, who now lives at Bethany Retirement Living, used to fly planes back in the 60's and 70's. Long time pilot Vic Gelling helped fulfill the wish.

Gary Jacobson – Bethany Resident: “That is something special, really excited.”

Other residents have requested a reunion with relatives, a ride out to an old family farm, or to fish one last time.
