Bismarck, ND (WDAY TV) - Tax relief with local control is what former state senator Tracy Potter wants for North Dakota.

At a news conference today, Potter explained that Measure 2 goes too far and centralizes power in the North Dakota Legislature. He believes in order to get local control and property tax relief is through a credit on income tax forms. Potter, a former state senator, is running for the Superintendent of public Instruction.

Tracy Potter – Running for State Superintendent: "Solving the property tax issue is essential to North Dakota schools and that makes it important to the race for Superintendent of Public Instruction. And in the spirit of nonpartisanship that is the only executive office on the no-party ballot, I believe it's important that we suggest a way to bridge the differences between the two sides on Measure 2."

Max Laird, and Kirsten Baesler are also running for the position.
