A Grand Forks woman facing charges for injuring a man from Grand Forks whose leg had to be amputated is changing her plea to guilty.

52-year-old Karen Vatnsdal is charged with driving under the influence and aggravated assault after authorities say she pinned 37-year-old Michael Hart against the back of his truck with her car in October.

The accident happened at the intersection of DeMers Avenue and South 30th Street in Grand Forks. Hart had gotten out of his pickup to get a stroller that had fallen out when he was struck by Vatnsdal. The accident left him unconscious at the scene and injured his leg resulting in amputation below the knee.

Vatnsdal was scheduled for a jury trial on March 29th but instead has a change of plea hearing set for March 3rd.
