West Fargo, ND (WDAY Sports) - The dust is still settling in West Fargo after the Packer softball team celebrated its 15th consecutive state championship late last night.
Brittany Rheault not only pitched 8 shutout innings against Minot Ryan, the Packer sophomore also produced the game's only run on this walk-off hit in the bottom of the 8th. It capped a terrific season, in which West Fargo finished 33-2 and went undefeated against teams from North Dakota.
BRITTANY RHEAULT - Game-winning hit, 8 Shutout Innings: “I was just thinking "hit it"! That's all I was thinking. I was going to go after it and attack it. I was just thinking this is the chance. I think it was the most intense game for sure because
we were defending our title and this is a big one that we work towards. I think it was the most intense game.”
SYDNEY GREENLUND - West Fargo Senior Catcher: “This one made me cry and I don't cry. So, it was definitely emotional for me. It was definitely a rewarding game. It was a very fun game and I couldn't ask for a better group to go out with.”
