North Dakota Special Olympics celebrating 40th anniversary

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - More than 500 athletes laced up their sneakers today to compete in the 40th anniversary of the North Dakota Special Olympics. Opening ceremonies kicked of the event at Davies High School here in Fargo.
Athletes had their game faces on as the competed in volleyball and bocce ball. Other events included power lifting and swimming. One athlete says this is his favorite time of year.
Adair Hartze β Athlete: βIt feels great to be here. Tomorrow I am going to participate in track and field.β
There will be fireworks and ice cream social tonight at Davies high school at 9:15. It is free and open to the public.
