Washington, DC (WDAY TV) - Unfortunately it's the end of the line for North Dakota's representative in the Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. Twelve year-old Ty Korsmo from Northwood missed the word pratincolous in today's semifinal round. Ty substituted an "e" for the "a" and was out.
Pratincolous refers to living in a meadow. Of 278 state and regional champions, Ty was one of 50 semifinalists who made it through three preliminary rounds of competition.
The national spelldown continues with a final round tonight.
