3 ND cities awarded energy impact grants

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The state has awarded nearly $17 million in energy impact money to three cities in North Dakota's booming oil patch to help with infrastructure needs.

The Land Board announced Thursday that it has committed $9.6 million to Williston, $5.8 million to Dickinson and $1.4 million to the city of Minot. The grant money was allocated from Oil and Gas Impact Funds that are earmarked for cities with 10,000 people or more.

The funding will be used to build or expand infrastructure like water and sewer lines and roads that will support permanent housing in western North Dakota.

The three cities previously were awarded $21 million in Energy Impact Grants.
