WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — A Wahpeton woman who was stabbed by her neighbor as she smoked a cigarette outside their apartment building says she's glad he's behind bars but wishes his sentence was longer.

Twenty-six-year-old Trista Martin says she was stabbed 20 times, leaving her body scarred. She says the left side of her face is partially paralyzed, some of her vocal cords are damaged and her left arm has nerve damage.

Patrick Wolfgram pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the attack last October and on Tuesday was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison.

Martin finished her schooling at the State College of Science in Wahpeton last December and says her goal is to become an advocate for crime victims. She also plans to lobby for a harsher maximum penalty for attempted murder.
