Fargo-Moorhead (WDAY TV) - Nationally, the US could be in for one of the worst mosquito seasons in decades, but in the Red River Valley it's a different story. With the recent rain, Cass County Vector control says mosquito season should pick up here very soon, but so far it's been average.

Crews could be seen throughout Cass County treating areas of standing water all afternoon. Despite extremely warm conditions in March and April, the lack of moisture limited those early season bug bites.

Ben Prather – Cass County Vector Control: “The counts have been up, they've been down, they've been anywhere in between. From what we've seen, it's very dependent on what kind of temperatures and wind conditions you're seeing out there.”

Prather says he expects a more severe West Nile season, which could hit the Fargo area in late June.
