Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- The Moorhead American Legion is celebrating this Memorial Day like none before.
After raising nearly 80 thousand dollars and a year and a half of hard work, a new memorial is now open. It is a five faced brick structure complete with granite memorials for all those from Clay County who lost their lives at war.
Veterans who had a hand in building the memorial say they will never forget how special this Holiday was this year.
Legion Member, Verle Walter, says, "I hope, I hope they come and enjoy it, I hope people will go drive 20 minuet, 30-50 miles out of their way just to come see it, it is just something that is dear to my heart."
If you would like to purchase a paver to honor a loved one there are 600 left, and cost 75 dollars. You can buy them at the Moorhead American Legion.
