Things took an unexpected turn for a Michigan driver Saturday afternoon when he ended up in a Barnes County, N.D., slough.
According to North Dakota Highway Patrolman Sgt. Tom Herzig:
Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday a 2005 GMC pick-up traveling east on I-94 drift-ed off the road. The truck, which was going 70 mph with the cruise control on, came to a rest 100 feet into a slough off the south side of the interstate, in about two-and-a-half feet of water.
The driver and passenger, both from Michigan, were wearing their seat-belts and were uninjured. The driver was cited for care required.
The vehicle had to be towed from the slough and sustained a couple of thou-sand dollars in water-related damage.
