Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- Soccer players from Fargo took on Grand Forks to raise awareness for Dak-Minn blood bank.

The first kick of the game was from Florence Azenkeng. She is alive today thanks to 56 people she doesn't even know.

They all donated blood to save her life when complications set in after she gave birth in January.

Her husband is spreading the word with the hope that more people will be inclined to donate and help save others lives.

Alex Azenkeng, blood donation advocate, says, "My wife suffered uterine rupture. That caused a lot of bleeding, and she almost lost her life in the process. "

The summer months are the most difficult for Dak-Minn. The blood bank needs an average of 100 donors a week just to meet their needs.
