FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The U.S. Department of Justice says a North Dakota man must pay back $23,350 he embezzled from a Spirit Lake tribal program with the help of his wife and daughter.

The Grand Forks Herald reports (http://bit.ly/JUBEly ) that a federal judge in Fargo also sentenced 68-year-old William Kazena to four years of probation Friday for conspiracy to embezzle from an Indian tribal organization.

Kazena pleaded guilty in January to taking benefits he was not qualified to receive from the Spirit Lake Vocational Rehabilitation Program.

His wife, Martina Kazena, who was director of the program, also has pleaded guilty to her role in the conspiracy and will be sentenced July 23.

His daughter, Tanya Jetty, who was the program's compliance officer, pleaded guilty earlier this month and will be sentenced Aug. 27.
