Investigators are trying to figure out what caused two big tanks to start on fire at a Dilworth business. It gave off heavy black smoke as you can see from our tower cam. Firefighters were called to Aggregate Industries along highway 10 shortly after 5. Crews were able to knock down the flames on the tanks and keep it from spreading to nearby tanks and equipment. They say the fire was limited to the insulation on the outside of the tanks, which are mixers for asphalt. Nothing inside caught on fire.
Bill Bergquist – Clay County: “It looked a lot worse than it was but people can be reassured there is no hazmat thing. Yeah, it was a little black smoke but it was just the foam insulation.”
There is no estimate on damages.
