Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Crystal officials told the Forum editorial board, it has no plans to budget from its latest contract offer. About 1,300 workers have been locked out since last August and were replaced with out of state workers.

Company officials have since replaced many of those positions by hiring locally. Union spokesman John Riskey says despite what some Crystal officials say, many sugar beet growers support the union workers.

John Riskey – Union Spokesman: “We have farmers that are talking with us, and they just don't want to see their community hurt anymore then they are, they don't want to see their company hurt any more than it has been.”

Contract talks are scheduled to resume on June 8th.
