North Dakota's director of Mineral Resources is clearing up information about the state's population boom. Lynn Helms was quoted yesterday as saying the population could hit one-million people by 2015. Realistically he says that's not possible until 2025 or 2030.
Helms say rather, the state could hit one-million barrels of oil a day by 2015, not people. The state is currently producing about 575,000 barrels a day.
Lynn Helms – ND Directory of Mineral Resources: “Our policy makers need to be envisioning what our state should look like in that time when we reach that.”
The 2011 population was estimated at just more than 680,000.
