Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The probable cause hearing in the case of the Fargo surgeon Dr. Jon Norberg ended today, and Norberg will be heading to trial. Norberg is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting his wife.

After hearing from witnesses and arguments from both the Defense Attorney and States Attorney, the judge ruled this case has enough evidence and will go to trial. Dr. Norberg is charged with felony charges of gross sexual imposition and reckless endangerment.

The Defense attorney argued there's not enough probable cause or evidence for this case to go to trail, stating there wasn't a medical examination done on Alonna Norberg, Dr. Norberg’s wife. He also stated this case should not be used as a tool in the divorce and custody battle.

Assistant States Attorney Gary Euren says when the Jury hears the whole story there will be enough probable cause to convict Doctor Norberg.

Gary Euren – Assistant State’s Attorney: “It is not as easy of a case that’s true, but it is not an unprovable case either, and we believe that we have plenty of other evidence to substantiate our evidence.”

Dr. Norberg's attorney declined to comment. Norberg will be pleading not guilty to all counts. The trial should get underway August 28th.
