Red River Zoo welcomes baby Sichuan takin

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Red River Zoo is celebrating the birth of an endangered species.

The Red River Zoo is celebrating the birth of an endangered species. A Sichuan takin was born 1 week ago. The male is about 20 pounds, and doing well.

Mom Luan is said to be a good mom. The mom is on permanent loan from the San Diego Zoo. She came to the red River Zoo in 2002.

Sichuan takins are found in the mountains of the Sichuan province of China. It's considered to be a national treasure by the Chinese government. The Zoo will be holding a naming contest for the new kid on the block.
