The top Republican in the Minnesota senate says the 2012 session was a positive one for the state. Senator David Senjem said the Republican majority made strides toward its goals of creating jobs and restricting the expansion of government.
He said Minnesota went from a $6.2 billion deficit in 2011 to a $1.2 billion surplus this year. He says financial forecasts look positive.
State Senator David Senjem – (R) Majority Leader: “The major accomplishment is to take Minnesota out of a budget deficit situation putting it into a budget surplus situation and regardless of what anyone says I think there's hope on the highway so to speak and we're gonna go forward.”
The session also produced that last minute bill to build a new Vikings stadium.
