FARGO, N.D. (AP) — About 24,000 people are taking part in events during the Fargo Marathon weekend.
The marathon itself on Saturday will include 35 soldiers currently stationed in southwest Asia. Most are with the North Dakota Air National Guard's 119th Civil Engineer Squadron. The Forum newspaper reports that airmen from Alaska, Georgia and Kansas also are taking part.
The Fargo Marathon is in its eighth year. The weekend includes everything from the 26.2-mile marathon to a youth run.
Last year, a Pennsylvania runner won the men's marathon and an Indiana runner won the women's competition.
