In about a half an hour more than 9,000 runners will take off in the Fargo Marathon 5K. and every runner has fans wanting to know how they're doing. With new technology that's now possible.

This tracking system is making it easier than ever to keep track of your family and friends running the in the race. It will allow you to spot them from when they cross this starting line until they run into the finish.

Carl Magnuson with MTech Results out of St. Paul says this system is so easy the only thing you need to know is your runners name or bib number.

Carl Magnuson – Mtech Results: “Basically you pull up our map tracker website, you pull that up and you can search for someone.”

Once you have typed in this information, you will see where they are, how long it will take them to get to the next point, and a projected time of when they will cross the big finish line.

Carl Magnuson: “It shows all of the streets in Fargo, and then it shows the course route, and then it will change colors basically as you progress along the course.”

You can access the progress of your runner from any smart phone or computer and you don't even have to be in Fargo let alone the same state to see how they are doing. Beth Johnston came with her family all the way from Cisco Illinois to cheer on her husband. He has run several full marathons, and without tracking like this she's missed the most important part.

Beth Johnson – Cisco, IL: “He tells me what time he is going to be done, so I try and figure for us girls trying to be ready and there before he arrives, and we have been missing it lately, so this is going to be nice because we are going to know exactly what time he is going to be done.”

Jennifer Olson is running her first full marathon tomorrow. She came from Warren, Minnesota and can't wait to have her family watch her every step of the way.

Jennifer Olson – Warren, MN: “My grandparents probably can't here and make the run, but they can access the internet and once they know my number they will be able to be there with me as much as they can.”

The extra motivation doesn't hurt either.

Jennifer Olson: “It will, but you kind of have to cross the line now that everyone can see you, and know where you are.”

You can only track runners running in the full and half marathon. Click the Easy Link to start tracking your runner bright and early tomorrow morning.
