Runners lining up for 5K race

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - With tens of thousands of people expected to line the marathon course tonight for the 5 K, and tomorrow for the 10 K, full, and half marathon, there are a few things race officials want you to know.

With tens of thousands of people expected to line the marathon course tonight for the 5 K, and tomorrow for the 10 K, full, and half marathon, there are a few things race officials want you to know.

With the 5 K only an hour or so away these streets will start filling up fast. If you are looking to come cheer the runners on, you are asked to give yourself plenty of time to get to a good spot.

If you have a dog you need to keep it on a leash and don't walk the dog anywhere near the race course. Kids should be supervised at all times and shouldn't run around or near the route.

Also friends and family members of runners shouldn't run out to hug them or distract them because they could get injured.

Mark Knutson - Race Director: “We actually really ask that they don't hand out water or food to the runners. It is kind of an unsanctioned if you will, you just never know what could get out there.”

If you live along the race course, you are asked to park your car along a street that is not in the race route or in the driveway. One of the major do's cheer as loud as possible.

If you can't make it along the course to cheer on the runners in person, you can log on to wday.com. We will have 5 live streaming cameras along the race route.
