Competitors in the Fargo Marathon have all kinds of reasons as to why they run. Some run in remembrance, some for the challenge, some for the health.
Then there's someone like E.J. Scott. The improvisational comedian from Los Angeles who performed with the comedy group The Linebenders tonight in Fargo . All the proceeds from the fundraiser go towards a cause that's personal to Scott. He's going blind from a disease called Choroideremia. In order to raise money and awareness for the rare disorder, Scott, who's legally blind, is running 12 marathons in 12 months while blindfolded. Fargo is marathon number five.
EJ Scott – Running 12 Marathons Blindfolded: “I hope to have accomplished my goal of raising $144,000 and getting as much publicity in each city as I can and maximum I've done enough to really get the wheels turning toward a cure and a treatment and get people inspired to do other things. Even if it's not choroidermia maybe it's for their own causes.”
