Valley City woman faces charges of lying to police

A woman who accused a Valley City police officer of using excessive force during an incident at a bar now faces charges for lying about it. Prosecutors have filed misdemeanor charges of giving false information to law enforcement against Lesa Black of Fargo.
Officer Randy Schmidt was placed on paid administrative leave during an investigation of the February 26th fight outside the VFW. He has since been cleared of all charges.
Black faces a year in jail and or a 2 thousand dollar fine. She'll be in court next week.
