Tuesday night we reported that NDSU and UND were inching closer to resuming their football rivalry. Bison athletic director Gene Taylor told me that it was a matter of getting on the phone with Brian Faison and hammering out some specific dates.

Apparently that phone call was made because it appears the Bison-Sioux rivalry is back. No contracts have been signed yet, but two tentative dates have been agreed upon. NDSU would host the first game on September 19th, 2015 in Fargo, and then the Bison would travel to Grand Forks in 2017.

Brian Faison - UND Athletic Director: “That's where we're at in terms of getting the series started, and Gene and I respectfully disagree on continuation of playing every year and Gene believes every other year, so we got to get it started, so that's where we gotta be assuming we get the contracts signed.”

The last time the two rivals played was 2003 in Grand Forks, a 28-21 UND overtime win. The Sioux won the game the last 3 times it was played.
