GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A federal judge says a North Dakota man must serve more than eight years in prison on illegal weapons charges.
Pertoskie Williams, of Maddock, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm. He pleaded guilty in September 2011.
Authorities say Williams has multiple felony convictions in New Jersey and was in possession of a stolen .22-caliber pistol.
Prosecutors asked for a sentence of 109 months in prison. A federal public defender argued for a term of 90 months. U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson sentenced Williams to 102 months.
