If there's one topic that is guaranteed to rile up sports fans in this state, besides the Sioux nickname, it's the NDSU-UND football game. This year will mark the 9th consecutive season that the two schools will not play, but things are starting to fall into place. UND is now playoff eligible, heading into the Big Sky next season. So I asked Gene Taylor, what's stopping this game from happening?
Gene Taylor – NDSU Athletic Director: “I've talked to Brian. I've said, ‘call me whenever you're ready to move forward.’ I think they've finally got into league, finally got a schedule, so I think it's matter of time of sitting down and figuring it out, but their is first opportunity is 2015. There was some dates prior to that, but I think getting on the phone and what's going on in the future.”
Taylor also said playing every year doesn't seem likely either. He also told me NDSU has raised $30 out of a necessary $32 million for the renovation of the BSA. The full interview will be available tomorrow on WDAY.com.
