Fergus Falls Police are looking into the brutal killing of a family dog. It happened at a house near downtown that is broken-up into apartments. Police say there are leads in the case, but no suspects have been arrested yet.

Fergus Falls police believe there was no burglary or break-involved in the killing but they found something unsettling at the scene that may have been used to kill the dog. Fergus Falls police say a dog, similar to this one, was found in the commons area of the apartment.

Nathan Lien – Fergus Falls Detective: “Also a golf club located in the commons area that appears was used to strike the dog.”

Beverly Hess – Neighbor: “Noise, partying, fighting.”

For those living next to the rental unit, there is uneasiness. Beverly and Clarence Hess have called police repeatedly to the apartments...

The owner of the dog did not answer the door, and authorities are having a hard time getting in touch with her as well. They hope evidence and interviews will lead them to an arrest.

If arrests are made, those responsible could face animal cruelty charges.
