For those who were lucky enough to get on the water for Minnesota's fishing opener, I hope you’re enjoying a fishing feast. Our own Dom Izzo had his own journey this morning.
Hi everyone and welcome to Little Pine Lake in Perham, Minnesota for the 2012 fishing opener, this is one of the busier lakes in the region, over 200 boats out here on the water today and with weather that seemed ideal for catching some walleye that wasn't the case when we got out on the water....
I met up with 3 men, Jeff, Noel and Ron, who have been fishing this lake for nearly 20 years, it was a slow start with no activity, until we changed our depth.
Jeff Dolby – Maple Grove, MN: “I thought we do a little better with the early spring, but got a couple northerns, hopefully get some more.”
The guys finished with just 1 walleye, then we went on land, and to find some off-shore anglers, having some better luck.
Cary Boedigheimer – Hawley: “Knew there was going to be a lot of boat traffic, DNR checking people didn't feel like going thru that, come to my old reliable spot and go from there.”
Cary had a couple more fish bite at his spot, but from what we saw at Little Pine Lake today was a tough start to walleye season.
