North Dakota making 40% fewer deer licenses available this year

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's going to be a lot harder to get a deer license in North Dakota this year.

It's going to be a lot harder to get a deer license in North Dakota this year. The Game and Fish Department is making just over 65,000 available this fall. That's a 40% drop from last year, and the fewest in a quarter century.

The reduction is because of a smaller deer population. The wildlife chief says the last 3 winters have been harsh, and have taken their toll on wildlife. Unlike past years, hunters will not be able to get more than one license for the deer gun season. The deer season opens at noon November 9th.
