MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A fallen power line ignited an intense fire on the street of a Minneapolis neighborhood.
CenterPoint Energy says lightning struck a high voltage power line early Sunday which fell onto some cars parked on the street. Three vehicles went up in flames. Authorities say the fire was so hot it burned through the asphalt and ignited an underground gas line.
Lauren Glastein tells KARE-TV (http://kare11.tv/JKB2J5 ) a live electrical wire was whipping around in the fire. The neighborhood lost gas and electrical service until Sunday evening.
