West Fargo may get it's wish of having a 2 billion dollar diversion

West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- West Fargo might get its wish after all, on the proposed 36 mile, 2 billion dollar diversion.

West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- West Fargo might get its wish after all, on the proposed 36 mile, 2 billion dollar diversion.

The Army Corps is studying whether to move the channel farther west around the city. Engineers say the current path presents technical challenges.

City leaders call the move positive. They originally lobbied for the plan so the diversion wouldn't hurt the city growing west.

But the corps rejected it, because of the cost, saying the plan couldn't be based on economic development.
