WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — Crews have cleaned up a small petroleum spill in the Bois de Sioux River on Wahpeton's south side.
Richland County Emergency Manager Brett Lambrecht tells The Forum (http://bit.ly/IGyQrq) that crews used booms and absorbent pads to contain and soak up the slick, which measured about two blocks long.
The spill was discovered Tuesday night when someone reported a strong fuel odor coming from the river.
Richland County Emergency Manager Brett Lambrecht says he and city crews are trying to pinpoint the source of the contamination, which he says appears to be diesel fuel.
The North Dakota Department of Health determined there was no threat to drinking water.
