BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Secretary of State Al Jaeger has shortened his office hours again to give employees time to catch up on paperwork.
Almost a month ago, Jaeger ordered the office closed Mondays except for deliveries. He said it would be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.
Jaeger says the hours are now 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. The office is open five hours a day, four days a week.
Jaeger made the move to give workers uninterrupted time to process new business registrations, contractor license applications and other paperwork. He says registration requests have gone up dramatically in recent years.
Jaeger says it's too early to tell how much the shortened hours have helped in getting caught up on paperwork.
