Workers are remembering those who lost their lives while on the job. In 2011 twenty-nine workers lost their lives while on the job, more than double 2010's total of 13.

Many gathered today at the Fargo Labor Hall and presented roses in honor of Workers Memorial Day. Officials say the oil patch in western North Dakota is a contributing factor to the high numbers, but it's also because of a lack of safety inspectors.

Gary Granzotto – President, ND AFL-CIO: “We are here also to recommit ourselves to an effort to bring about greater safety in the workplace for all workers.”

Granzotto said currently there are only three total OSHA inspectors for both South Dakota and North Dakota.
