When all was said and done, the Vikings got the man they wanted, but also helped themselves out by stocking up some draft picks. Before the draft began, Minnesota swapped spots with Cleveland, moving down to the 4 spot and drafted USC left tackle Matt Kalil. They also picked up 3 other picks from the Browns in the 4th, 5th and 7th rounds.

Kalil is 6'7, 306 pounds. He was 1st team All-American with the Trojans last year and will try and bulk up a Viking offensive line that allowed 50 sacks in 2011.

The Vikes though weren't done. They traded back into the first round, giving up their 2nd round and 4th round picks to Baltimore to select Notre Dame safety Harrison Smith with the 29th overall pick. Smith is 6'1, 213 pounds. He was a four year starter for the Irish.
