With all the growth a new study shows Veterans Boulevard could become one of, if not the busiest street in the F-M area. An open house was held today to inform the public about possible changes needed.
Traffic flows on Veterans Boulevard should at least triple in the next two decades. Construction costs could reach as much as $40 million over the next 20 plus years.
Among many changes proposed along ninth street and Veterans Boulevard, the study recommends widening the area from I-94 to 32nd avenue south to six lanes.
Wade Kline – Metro-COG Executive Director: “I mean this is going to be not unlike 45th street and other major commercial and retail corridors in the metropolitan area.”
That area is expected to reach 31,000 vehicles per day between I-94 and 32nd avenue south by 2035.
