Jamestown, ND (WDAY TV) -- A Jamestown woman, is on a mission, raising money to keep others from going through the pain she did when she lost her life partner.

Leanne Buckley is raising money to buy a remote operated vehicle for the area. Her partner, Darrin Ackerman fell through thin ice on the Jamestown Reservor, on December 4th.

It took authorities 9 days to recover his body. Divers had a tough time in the cold dark water. It was an ROV from Fargo that eventually found Ackerman.

Leanne says,"he would do anything for anybody that's why i'm doing this, something good has got to happen out of this because it's a horrible waste horrible loss."

The ROV costs around 75-thousand dollars. A benefit and silent auction was held today at the Jamestown Civic Center, to raise money for it.
