Moorhead police respond to domestic disturbance near MSUM

Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Moorhead police are still searching for a suspect after a man was assaulted tonight at a home between the campuses of MSUM and Concordia. Students and Faculty at MSUM received a code red text alerting them of possible danger.

We were on scene shortly after this call came through. We actually followed some squad cars as they whipped through neighborhoods around the two campuses. This all started shortly after 7.

In the code-red message sent out, authorities said they were searching for a Hispanic man wearing a San Diego Chargers jersey and one shoe. Thirty minutes after that text another came out, saying the public was not in danger.

Police say a homeowner in the 1100 block of 12th street got into an argument with his girlfriend, and when her son interfered police say the homeowner punched her son. Police are still searching for the man.

Lt. Chris Carey – Moorhead Police: “We do not believe that the city of Moorhead is in danger by this person however is somebody does happen to see this person walking through the neighborhood contact 9-1-1 let us know so we can get his side of the story.”

Police are waiting on releasing the suspect’s name. They say he'll be charged with misdemeanor assault.
