O'FALLON, Mo. (AP) — A Minnesota man is dead after wrecking his motorcycle in suburban St. Louis, allegedly while avoiding police.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/HPXPco ) reports that 24-year-old Bryan Newhouse of Menanga, Minn., died in the crash and a passenger, 29-year-old Kurtis Roghan, also of Menanga, was seriously injured.
The accident happened at 1:16 a.m. Tuesday on Highway K in St. Charles County. A deputy tried to stop Newhouse's motorcycle, which was missing a tail light. Authorities say the motorcycle sped way, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph. The deputy backed away.
But down the road, two other deputies had pulled over a sport utility vehicle. They saw the speeding motorcycle heading toward them, pushed the SUV occupants out of the way and scrambled to safety.
The motorcycle struck the SUV.
