(WDAY TV) - The latest statistics show North Dakota has the 7th largest wage gap between genders in the United States. While the disparity between wages has narrowed in the 50 years since the Equal Pay Act was passed, in North Dakota, the latest numbers show women take home 74 cents for every dollar a man takes home.

In Minnesota it is 78 cents and in South Dakota women make 82-cents to a man's dollar. Nationally, it is 77 cents on the dollar.

The Equal Pay Act requires women to be paid the same as men for doing the same job. According to 2010 census figures, a woman working full time makes about $36,931 dollars a year while the median pay for a man is $47,715.
