Minnesota man accused of blackmailing Fargo woman

Columbus, OH (WDAY TV) - A disturbing story about a young Fargo woman attending school out east. It's a bizarre story of extortion after the woman's laptop was stolen.

A disturbing story about a young Fargo woman attending school out east. It's a bizarre story of extortion after the woman's laptop was stolen.

The FBI and St. Paul Police are investigating a 6 time felon in connection with the case. Authorities allege Demonte Johntrell Latimore of Minnesota stole a laptop from the 20 year-old at Ohio State.

After the suspect found explicit, private images on the laptop, he began emailing the woman demanding money. He threatened to post the pictures and video online and email it all to family if she did not pay. The suspect eventually created and posted pictures on a Facebook site.

Lt. Joel Vettel – Fargo Police: “And so we caution people to be smart and to be proactive about trying to make sure they are doing everything they can to protect personal information they have.”

Latimore is being held on federal weapons violations while the extortion investigation is ongoing.
