ND board mulling Dickinson State tuition

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — The president of Dickinson State University is pushing the Board of Higher Education to decide on out-of-state tuition rates for his school.

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — The president of Dickinson State University is pushing the Board of Higher Education to decide on out-of-state tuition rates for his school.

A recent audit says Dickinson State has inconsistent tuition policies for out-of-state and international students.

Dickinson President D.C. Coston says the issue needs to be cleared up soon. He says uncertainty about tuition charges is hurting the school's student recruiting.

North Dakota's Board of Higher Education is delaying a decision for now. Board President Grant Shaft says the board needs more information.

Shaft says the board may have a special meeting soon to resolve the problem.

Coston suggests charging most out-of-state students 150 percent of the in-state rate.

The higher rate wouldn't apply to students from North Dakota's neighboring states, or from states that have special tuition agreements.
